Experience A Clearly Individualized Orthodontics Journey
ClearCorrect® (Clear Aligners)
ClearCorrect® is a discreet orthodontic treatment that gradually straightens teeth using custom-fit, removable clear teeth straighteners. It is an ideal solution for many alignment issues, including crowding, overbite, crossbite, underbite, open bite, spacing or gaps, and crooked teeth.
The process begins by digitally scanning your teeth, then working with the ClearCorrect Digital Lab to create an individualized treatment plan that gently moves your teeth—from your first aligner to your last. Predictable outcomes can usually be achieved in 6-15 months.
Traditional Braces
Traditional braces in Champaign, IL, are a highly effective orthodontic solution for correcting a wide range of alignment issues, from crowded and misaligned teeth to more complex bite problems. They use metal brackets and wires to gradually shift teeth into their proper positions, delivering reliable and precise results. While they may require regular adjustments, traditional braces remain a trusted option for creating a straight, functional, and beautiful smile. With advancements in design, today’s braces are more comfortable and less noticeable, making them a great choice for patients of all ages.
Retainers
Retainers ensure the investment and hard work you put into braces isn’t undone. Bottom teeth are particularly vulnerable to returning to their old position, so a permanent retainer is usually recommended on the lower arch. Removable retainers are clear, thin, slightly flexible, plastic-like materials that fit your teeth’ exact shape and placement.
Fixed or permanent retainers are made of a thin metal wire glued behind your teeth. ClearCorrect® Retainers are designed to provide adequate mechanical and functional forces for retaining final occlusion and helping prevent tooth relapse.
What to Expect During Your Orthodontic Treatment
Step 1: Consultation
Your orthodontic consultation at Q Dental is all about your smile goals. Our team will listen closely to what you want to change—crowding, spacing, bite issues, or a complete smile transformation—and build a customized orthodontic plan around your needs.
From ClearCorrect® to traditional braces, we'll guide you through the best options for your lifestyle. Our coordinators also help you understand costs and flexible financing so treatment feels comfortable, both clinically and financially. It's a welcoming, judgment-free experience designed to put you on the path to a confident, aligned smile.
Step 2: Records Appointment
Your records appointment is where we gather the information needed to design the perfect smile for you. We'll take digital impressions, photographs, and X-rays to understand your bite, spacing, and jaw alignment. These diagnostics help our doctors build a fully personalized plan tailored to your goals and lifestyle.
Afterward, our treatment coordinators will walk you through your personalized plan, explain your options, and help you make financial arrangements that feel right for you. We're here to make the process smooth, transparent, and stress-free.
Step 3: Treatment Start
This is the exciting part—your orthodontic journey officially begins. At this visit, our team will place your braces or deliver your customized ClearCorrect® aligners. We'll review what to expect over the next few weeks, how to care for your appliances, and tips to keep everything comfortable. You'll leave with everything you need to feel confident and prepared as your smile begins to transform.
Step 4: Completion
Congratulations—you've reached the finish line! Once your treatment is complete, we'll remove your braces or deliver your final ClearCorrect® results and review the improvements in your smile and bite. You'll receive custom retainers to help protect your new alignment, along with guidance on long-term care. This is the moment you get to enjoy the confident, beautifully balanced smile you've worked hard for.
Orthodontic FAQs
Most things, yes. Cleanings, fillings, crowns, and extractions can all be done during ortho treatment. Some procedures coordinate better at specific points — for example, we usually delay cosmetic veneers until ortho is finished, since the final tooth position changes how the veneers should be designed. Implants in active ortho areas are also typically deferred until treatment ends, so the implant doesn't interfere with tooth movement. We coordinate timing across all your dental work so nothing gets done twice.
Most cases run 6–24 months. Mild crowding or spacing — sometimes 6 months. Moderate cases — typically 12–18 months. Complex bite correction — 18–24 months or longer. ClearCorrect aligners and traditional braces have similar treatment times for most cases — the choice between them is more about lifestyle and case complexity than speed. Wearing your aligners as prescribed (22+ hours per day) and keeping appointments are the two biggest factors in finishing on time.
Don't panic — but call us right away. The most important thing: don't skip ahead to the next tray on schedule. Depending on where you are in treatment, we'll either have you go back to the previous tray to hold position until a replacement arrives, or fit you with a refinement tray. If you're near the end of a 1–2 week wear cycle, sometimes you can move forward — but don't decide that on your own.
Call us — it's a quick fix in one short visit. A loose bracket isn't an emergency unless it's causing pain or cutting your cheek. If the bracket is still attached to the wire, leave it alone and we'll re-bond it. If it falls off completely, save it in a small bag and bring it. The cause is usually biting into something hard — popcorn kernels, ice, hard bread, sticky candy — and we'll review what to avoid. Repeated bracket failures sometimes mean the bond isn't strong enough on certain teeth, and we'll switch our technique for those.
Honest answer: yes, in some form. Teeth want to drift back toward where they started — that's just how they're wired. The good news: full-time retainer wear is only the first 3–6 months after treatment. After that, most patients move to nighttime-only. Skipping retainers is the #1 reason orthodontic results don't last. We've seen patients who finished braces 20 years ago come in with straight teeth because they wore their retainer faithfully. We've also seen patients relapse within months because they stopped.
